On the occasion of the publication by Exils of Youssef Ishaghpour's latest opus
Cinema and modernity , the André Malraux media library in Maisons-Alfort will present, from 21
November 2025 to January 31, 2026, a previously unpublished collection of his original photographs.
After the publication of his long-running work on the cinema of Orson Welles, Ishaghpour had
spent several months in the Côtes d'Armor tirelessly photographing the horizons
sailors, taking more than 10,000 photographs. This exhibition, entitled The Philosopher and the Sea
will bring together around thirty prints, including some in cibachrome made by Roland
Dufau in the 2000s.
As part of this event, a conference-meeting on Youssef Ishaghpour
(1940-2021) is organized on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 3 p.m. in the presence of Juliette
Grange, philosopher, François Thomas, critic and film specialist, and Fabien
Simode , director of the media library.
